“New parents in Japan have … have been sending bags of rice that weigh the same as their newborn babies to relatives who are unable to visit them due to the coronavirus pandemic. The bags come in a wide range of designs, with some shaped like a baby wrapped in a blanket so that loved ones can feel as though they are hugging the new arrival while looking at a picture of their face, which is attached to the front.” via The Guardian.

just one thing today but to me it's worth 300
as i stood surveying the view before i turned to walk back home a wedge tailed eagle who had been hunting plover chicks flew above my head and hovered there scanning the paddock for what seemed like minutes, then it did a lazy loop around my head and stopped just above me again. it was so close i could see all the colouring and feathers on its wings and belly. it was so special and a hugh moment of awe for me. the plovers chased it away and i saw it meet up with its mate before they glided off into the distance.
cheers kate
